Support Groups/Training

Single Parents and Real Kids (SPARK) is a support group that enables single parents to share their wisdom, concerns, and hopes for the future in a safe space with guidance from professional facilitators. The group meets for a series of six workshops that covers topics such as vocational goals, parenting skills, life planning, and relaxation. Parents are invited to bring children ages three and older, who will be given supervised recreation time and assisted with homework if needed during the workshops. A light dinner is served as well. This group is held in the Fall and Spring and rotates between meeting in Newburgh and Middletown. Be sure to check our event calendar for dates, times, and locations.

There is a small fee for this group and registration is required. SPARK is made possible with support from the Diane Finkelstein Fund for Families in Crisis. For more information email or call 845.341.1173 x302

JFS is committed to supporting Orange County individuals who identify as LGBTQ. Our goal is to continue to build and strengthen community resources for LGTBQ individuals and their families. In addition, we work with allies of the LGBTQ population.

Expanding services within the schools

We aim to support LGBTQ youth by supporting schools that offer LGBTQ programs and assisting schools who currently do not offer LGBTQ programs, create them. Recently we have been involved in helping LGBTQ programs in Orange County schools launch conferences, events, workshops, and discussions. Contact us about staff training and consultation.
